What is the difference?

We got very confused trying to define our efforts. In our search for a better understanding of how to define ourselves, we found a great article giving a run down on what all the different terms related to "being green" mean. This article as well as other research helped us define ourselves as climate conscious.

What does Climate Conscious mean?

In line with being environmentally conscious we recognise the term conscious refers to a business that is aware of the impact it has on its surrounding environment.

So when we refer to climate conscious we are acknowledging the changing climate, it's impact on us and our impact on it—and we are taking steps to reduce our impact. As an organisation who has first hand experience with the land we know without it we can't create our beautiful product so we want to do everything we can to help.

Here's what we've already achieved:

  • More efficient cooling and heating our winery (which helps us to conserve energy and waste less).
  • 100% recycled water in our winery.
  • 80% solar-powered winery.
  • 100% solar-powered Restaurant during the day.
  • Producing products with minimal waste. Ongoing
  • Re-planting existing vines with clones and varieties that are better suited to the warming climate. Ongoing

Here's what we're working towards:

  • 100% solar powered winery and Restaurant by 2025
  • Zero waste winery by 2025
